Donald Winfrey Murphy, 70, a native of Salinas, Calif., and resident of Houma, died at 3:59 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Friday at First United Methodist Church. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with burial in Magnolia Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia Buquet Murphy of Houma; one son, Wayne Frederick Murphy and fiancee’, Trudy Whitney, of Houma; two daughters, Sheri Lynn Murphy Ledet of Houma and Audra Murphy Neal and husband, Malcolm James Neal of Houma; two grandsons, Austin Jack Murphy and Aubin James Neal; one granddaughter, Emily Ellen Ledet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Winfrey O. Murphy and Lou Zane Davidson Murphy; one son, Jack Donald Murphy; and three sisters, Auda Murphy Legrant, Ieatha Murphy and Ruby Murphy Harwig.
Pallbearers will be Wendel "Winky" Boudreaux, Michael Buquet, Joseph Cehan, Joseph Duval, Andrew Gibson, Robert Landry, Gary Myers, Robert Syner and Michael Walker.
He was retired from Chabert Medical Center, was self-employed and was a retired military veteran.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
