Ernest M. Ertell, 69, a native of Freeport, Texas, and resident of Houma, died after a six-year battle with cancer on Friday, May 23, 2008.
A private service was held Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home, with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Miriam Domangue Ertell; one son, Ernest Ertell Jr. and Melissa, of Nashville, Tenn.; two daughters, Elise Ertell of Knoxville, Tenn., and Anne and Doug Faber of Atlanta; one sister, Eva Clayton and Charles of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Canton and Hannah Faber and Benjamin and Calvin Ertell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, B.F. and Annie Lou Savage Ertell; and one sister, Dorothy Ertell Talbot.
Memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society and Bayou Region Hospice.
