Alvin Anthony Scott Sr., 87, a native of Dulac and resident of Houma, died at 8 a.m. Monday, May 19, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at noon Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Kieff Scott of Houma; one son, Alvin Scott Jr. and wife, Janice, of Houma; three daughters, Enola Fanguy and husband, Adam, Verna Layne and husband, Steve, of Houma, and Alisa Frederick and husband, Jonah, of Schriever; two brothers, Essie Scott and Floyd Scott of Houma; one sister, Norma Bourgeois of Houma; 10 grandchildren, Earnie Scott, Jamie Scott, Yancy Bourg, Dodie Scott, Shana Phillips, Hope LeBouef, Holly Trosclair, Stephen Fanguy, Victoria Layne and Adrianna Frederick; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Scott and Angelique Darcey Scott; three brothers, Harry Scott Sr., Irvin Scott and Carroll Scott; and one sister, Pearl Stoufflet.
He was a retired carpenter and fisherman, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion.
