Joel "Butch" Elijah Potter, Jr., 70, died Monday, September 30, 2013 at 08:50 PM. He was a native of Houma, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Boudreaux Potter, Houma, LA, son, Christopher Joel Potter and wife Raquel, Houma, LA, grandsons, Stephen Potter and Jonathan Potter, stepson, Kevin Burns, Australia, and Byron Buquet, Houma, LA, stepdaughter, Dawn McKinnon, Australia, brothers, Edward C. Potter, Theodore A. Potter, Richard W. Potter, and sisters, Lucille Womack, Paulette Drott, Wilma Lockner, Elodie Johnson, Ethel Potter and Edna Warkow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel Elijah Potter, Sr. and Ella Hitt Potter, previous wife, Enid Burns Potter, sisters, Joan P. Woodall and Vickie Potter. He was a Crane Operator in the Oilfield. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
