Ruth Mary Weber Dayton, 82, a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., and resident of Houma, died at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, May 11, 2008.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service.
She is survived by her husband, Franklin A. Dayton of Houma; one son, Peter Arthur Dayton and wife, Deborah P. Dayton of Houston; three daughters, Jo Ann Dayton Shorkley and husband, Jay, of Ocean Springs, Miss., Janis Lafont and companion, Dennis Forgash, of Waldorf, Md., and Joyce M. Dayton and companion, Charles Buddy Hill, of Houma; nine grandchildren, Jason Shorkley, Justin, Tonya Dayton LeBeouf, Carrie D. Spurgeon, Kevin Dayton, Douglas Lafont, Claire Lafont, Chad Waalk and Megan Hawthorne; and five great-grandchildren, Kelsey, McKenize, Hayden, Connor and Cameron.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Henry Weber and Emile Kenninger Weber.
She was retired with the Terrebonne Parish Library and was an office manager with Dr. Harris Poret D.D.S.
She was a volunteer at Terrebonne General Medical Center and a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
