Charles Rodger Shephard, 88, a native of Bensrun, W.Va., and resident of Houma, died peacefully surrounded by family and friends at 7:50 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Adriana Ford of Houma; nine grandchildren, Richard C. Ford, Effie F. Schilling, Linda F. Punch, Michael D. Garcia, Mark J. Garcia, Hannah G. Franke, Margaret F. Duhe, Desiree L. Garcia and Jessica M. Garcia; 10 great-grandchildren, Blake Ford, Connor Ford, Starr Punch, Sadie Punch, Scott Punch, Shane Punch, William Schilling, Alicia Garcia, Andrew Schilling and Devin Franke; and his best friend, Lois Crnkovic.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna Mae Schmidt Shephard; his second wife, Ina Fae Schmidt Shephard; his parents, Hiriam Shephard and Alice Wells Shephard; one daughter, Janet Garcia; one son-in-law, William G. Ford; two brothers, Warren Shephard and Glenn Shephard; and one sister, Dorothy McCune.
He was a retired mechanic with Chevron and a U.S. Air Force veteran during World War II.
He was a member of Victory Christian Church.
