Retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. Warren James LeCompte Sr., 95, a native of Gibson and resident of Houma, died in Baton Rouge Wednesday, April 30, 2008
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.
Lt. Cmdr. is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Hebert LeCompte of Houma; one son, Warren J. "Jim" LeCompte Jr. and wife, Denise, of Baton Rouge; one daughter, Beryl LeCompte Rhodes and husband, Sidney Jr., of Odin, Ill.; seven grandchildren, James P. Daigle Jr. of Houma, Jeffery M. Daigle of Kennesaw, Ga., Warren J. LeCompte III of Virginia, Brian LeCompte, Shannon LeCompte of South Carolina, Joni Alcorn and Sandy Alcorn of Baton Rouge; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustin "Gus" LeCompte and Arcade "Katie" Toups LeCompte; one brother, Evans LeCompte; and two sisters, Gertrude LeCompte Colomb and Rachael LeCompte Babin.
He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran of 31 years. He served as president of the local and state chapters of the Reserve Officers Association and the Military Order of World Wars.
