Kermit Wurzlow, 99, a native and resident of Houma, passed away on Sunday, July 7, at 3:40 PM at his home surrounded by family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 from 10:00 AM until service time at First Presbyterian Church in Houma. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 PM at the church. Private Burial will be held at a later date at Magnolia Cemetery in Houma.
His is survived by his wife, Peggy Toups Wurzlow, daughters, Barbara W. Myers Picard and husband Lester, Robin W. Morgan Bourgeois and husband David, all of Houma, and Jeannie W. Domingue Creech and husband Lane of Madeira Beach, FL; son, William “Billy” Wurzlow and wife Cette of Houma and sister in law, Mrs. Jeanne B. Wurzlow, of Houma.
He is also survived by a step daughter, Kathy D. Burson and step sons, Gene Davis and wife Carol and Dan Davis and wife Trudy, all of Houma.
He leaves behind his grandchildren, Hance Vernon Myers, III, Jeanne Michelle Myers King, William “Billy” Wurzlow, Jr., Winnie Wurzlow Pellegrin, Denise Wurzlow Callais, Gabrielle Wurzlow Ball, Dominique Wurzlow Fetzer, Shawn Morgan Bourgeois, Brady Morgan, Danielle Morgan, Ashley Domingue Glover, Morgan Domingue,
step grandchildren, Kelly Burson Hess, Charles “Boo” Burson, Gene Craig Davis, Kami Davis Fleniken, Mindy Prosperie Lyons, Toby J. Prosperie and Jaime Davis.
Along with 18 great grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and his special friend Edward “T-Bob” Porche.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Hunter Wurzlow and his parents, Frank and Felicie Silvestre Wurzlow, Sr., sisters, Mrs. James (Felicie) Walker, Mrs. Albert (Rowena) Harvey and Olga Wurzlow; brothers, Herbert C. Wurzlow, Frank Wurzlow, Jr. and August W. Wurzlow; son in laws, Michael Domingue, Dan Morgan and Charles A. Burson.
Having learned the mineral lease brokerage business from his father, Kermit was a prominent broker in South Louisiana for more than 60 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed his time on the water. A kind and gentle man who knew no stranger, he had a deep love for his family, the beauty of Bayou Blue, nature and all living creatures.
