A resident and native of Houma, she died Sunday, April 13, 2008. She was 91. Visitation at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church, Houma, on Tuesday, April 15, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery, Houma. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, James "Jake" C. Jr. and Sarah Walker, Thomas R. and Mimi Walker, Daniel J. and Georgiana Walker and Michael W. and Lorelei Walker, all of Houma; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernadette W. and Winston Day, of Baton Rouge, and Sally W. and Jim McDevitt, of Houston; brother, Kermit Wurzlow, of Houma; 11 grandchildren, Jay Walker, Kathy W. Mella, Alice Walker, Tom Walker Jr., Ben Walker, Chris Walker, Brian Walker, Wendy Walker, Michael Walker, Walker Kerns and John Kerns; and eight great-grandchildren, Meghan Mella, Ashton Mella, Nicholas Walker, Joseph Walker, Jacob Walker, John Paul Walker, Delaney Walker and Hank Walker. Preceded in death her husband, James "Jake" Carl Walker Sr.; parents, Frank W. Wurzlow and Felicie Sylvestre Wurzlow; brothers, Herbert, Frank Jr., August and Eugene Wurzlow; and sisters, Olga Wurzlow and Rowena W. Harvey. She was a florist who, together with her brother Frank, opened Wurzlow Florist. She was a loving mother who adored, and was adored by all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family. She was an avid gardener who loved nature, especially birds and flowers. Her greatest moments were when she was surrounded by her family.
