Rosamae Neil Smith, 97, a native of Pointe-aux-Chenes and a resident of Houma,
died 4:50 p.m. Friday, April 11, 2008.
Visitation will be 4 to 10 p.m. today and 8 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Chauvin
Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home chapel, with
burial at Bisland Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Tatum and husband Micah, Bella Theriot
and fiance’ Brien Cantrelle of Houma; stepson, Normand Smith and wife Melvia of
Chauvin; seven grandchildren, Dean O. Martin and wife Anne, Charles “Neil”
Ashmore and wife Maria, Ashley Smith Cordova and husband Carlos, Hope
LeBoeuf and husband Richard, Jamie Scott and wife Terri, Dodie Scott and fiance’
Louis “Boy” Billiott Jr., Earnie Scott and wife Vickie; and nine step grandchildren,
Sheila Thibodaux and husband, Lloyd, Ramona Neil and husband Charles,
Jeannie Neil and husband Brent, Denise DeHart and husband Regonald, Patrick
Smith and wife Bernadine, Normand Smith Jr. and wife Kelly, Donald Tivet and wife
France, Michael Tivet and Brenda Tivet; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jean Baptiste Smith; longtime
companion, Tony Chaisson; parents, Michele Neil and Julia Rock Neil;
stepdaughter, Rezonia Tivet; stepson-in-law, Jerry Tivet; three brothers; and seven
sisters.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
