Helen Edith Dowell Gills, 83, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 9:05 AM. She was a native of Savannah , GA and longtime resident of Belle Meade Subdivision in Gretna. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Harvey, LA. Burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Gills Bundy and husband Carl, Houma, LA, Virginia Gills Centanni and husband Randy, Huntsville, AL, four grandchildren, Sheila Reese, Houma,LA, C. Michelle Goutierez, Joseph Centanni, Huntsville, AL, Lenice Centanni, Huntsville, AL five great grandchildren, brothers, Alphene W. "Bubber" Dowel and wife Peggy, Atlanta, GA, Bill Dowell and wife Kaye, Savannah, GA, sister, Diane Saturday and husband Joey, Savannah, GA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian Scott Gills, parents, Alphene W. Dowell and Helen Edith Werntz Dowell. She was a member of St. Mark Episcopal Church. She was very active in her church. She enjoyed taking care of everyone she met and loved her grandchildren.
