Alton Paul Fields, 85, a native and resident of Houma, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with burial in St. Bridget Cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Larry Fields and wife, Brenda, of Houma, and Lynn Fields and wife, Cynthia, of Schriever; four grandchildren, Austin Fields of Batesville, Ark., Michelle Cheramie, Craig Fields of Houma and Stephanie Welch of Knoxville, Tenn.; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Effie Guidry Fields; his parents, Ryder Fields and Agnes Babin Fields; two brothers, Anthony and Roy Fields; and two sisters, Odessa Fields and Odie Fields.
He was a retired pumper with Texaco and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
