Gene Thomas Pontiff, 72, died Monday, June 10, 2013 at 8:00 PM. He was a native and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Friday, June 14, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at Annunziata Catholic Church Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Annunziata Catholic Church. Burial: Terrebonne Memorial Park He is survived by his wife, Shirley Chisolm Pontiff, Houma, LA, step children, Lynn Welch Ford and husband Steven, Mary Welch Bergeron and husband Dean, Amy Welch Kraemer, Evelyn Chaisson Bailey, Lester Chaisson, thirteen step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren, sister, Marie Louise Pontiff Lapeyre and husband Harold, Bonnie Caro, Beverly Fenton, brothers, Edward Joseph Pontiff, Jr. and wife Rowena, Gerard Michael Pontiff and wife Sharon, Larry Brien and wife Judy, Daniel Brien and wife Claire, sister in law, Bonnie Pontiff, mother in law, Mary Chisolm. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Pontiff, Sr., mother, Laura Martin Pontiff Brien, step father, Lance Brien, son, Daniel Christopher Burrell, sister, Dorothy Pontiff, Margie Giglio, brother, George Francis Pontiff, Lance Brien, Jr. and Johnnie Brien, sister in law, Evelyn Pontiff. Gene loved watching football with his beloved dog Tinker and his grandson Jordan. He loved cooking and gardening. He always welcomed anyone into his home and always wanted to feed everyone. He was a loving and Christian husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice.
