John "Johnny" Ernest Fookles

John "Johnny" Ernest Foolkes, 86, a native of Reserve and resident of Houma, died at 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2008. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Robicheaux Foolkes of Houma; two daughters, Dawn Harper and husband, Tom, of Salado, Texas, and Johnnie Jo "Jody" Blanchard and husband, Carey, of Lewisville, Texas; two sisters, Helena Word of Austin, Texas, and May LeBoeuf of Houma; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund John Foolkes and Blanche Chauvin Foolkes; one stepson, Gerry Hicks; and two sisters, Marie Hamilton and Blanche Herron. He was a retired radio communication specialist with Hamilton Radio and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was the first King with the Krewe of Houmas. He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Peaceable Kingdom Retreat for Children, 19051 FM 2484, Killeen, Texas 76542, phone (254) 554-5555.
