Thelma "Chute" Rita Foret, 87, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Eugene Foret and wife, Bernadette, of Lincoln County, Miss., and Clarence Foret Jr. and wife, Diana, of Bayou Blue; four daughters, Betty Bergeron and husband, Irby, Clara Drainville, Jeannette Painter and husband, Spencer, and Jane Falgout and husband, Lynn, of Houma; one brother, Charlie Engeron of Independence; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Foret Sr.; her parents, Eugene Engeron and Nathalie Thibodeaux Engeron; one son-in-law, David Drainville; one grandson, Clarence Foret III; four brothers, Gordon Engeron, Bert Engeron, Anthony Engeron and Jerry Engeron; and three sisters, Houlda Butcher, Rosemary Ivey and Jeannette O’Steen.
She was a homemaker and a parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
