Alice Claire Testroet, 85, died Tuesday, May 14 of cancer related complications.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chauvin Funeral Home of Houma, Louisiana. A wake and rosary will be conducted on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Annunziata Catholic Church beginning at 9:30AM until noon. The wake will be followed immediately with a funeral Mass at Annunziata and graveside service at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
Alice was born in Gregory, South Dakota on January 24, 1928, the 10th of 14 children of Wilbur Timothy “Tim” Moffitt and Alice Francis (McElroy) Moffitt. She married Charles H. (Hank) Testroet of Ionia, Iowa on August 1, 1951. Alice and Hank moved their family to Houma, Louisiana in 1967 and have lived here since.
Alice was a full time homemaker and opened her home to family and friends, providing a loving environment for all. She was a parishioner of Annunziata Catholic Church since June of 1968. She was an active member of the Texaco wives club. She especially enjoyed playing cards and dancing.
Alice is survived by two sisters, Vivian Moffitt Carroll Steven of Algona, Iowa and Zeta Moffitt Graham of Sioux City, Iowa, her 3 married children, William (and Pamela) Testroet of Houma, LA, Barbara (and Bobby) Viteaux of Fort Worth, Texas and Susan (and Kelly) Bergeron of Metairie, LA, her grandchildren Noah (and Karren Lovelady) Bergeron, Sarah Bergeron, Caroline Viteaux and Colin Viteaux, 1 great grandchild, Charles Bergeron and numerous loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Timothy “Tim” Moffitt and Alice Francis (McElroy) Moffitt, her husband, Charles H. Testroet and 11 siblings, Mary Moffitt Taylor, Agnes Moffitt McArthur Albee, Margaret Moffit, Bertha Moffit Wauhob, Dorothy Moffitt Nelson, Floyd “Bud” Moffitt, Rita Moffitt Nelson, Theresa Moffitt Speidel Thompson, Robert “Bob” Moffitt, Laurence Moffitt and Leroy “Tom” Moffitt.
