Ross Patrick Mullooly, 22, of Houma, Louisiana died at 5:40 PM, Sunday, April 21, 2013. Visitation will be held on Thursday April 25, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home and on Friday April 26, 2013 from 9:00 AM until servcie time at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. He is survived by his parents, Monica and James Mullooly, his sister, Mrs. Keith (Leila) Miller and his grandmother, Kay Salassi. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Cherie Mullooly and Albert Salassi. Filled with a competitive spirit and a giving heart, Ross enmeshed himself in every activity and cause in which he took part. As an Accounting major at Nicholls State University, Ross served as a Senator on student government, ran on the Men’s Cross Country team, earning academic all-conference each year he competed. He was also a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and served as an orientation team leader. Ross was a 2009 graduate of Vandebilt Catholic High School where he earned male athlete of the year, was a state champion swimmer, an All State cross country runner, President of the Key Club and a Wendy’s Heisman recipient. As he bravely fought his own battle with cancer, Ross looked for ways to help with similar struggles. This led to him founding the Ross Mullooly Project, a non-profit organization benefiting the Patrick Taylor Hope Lodge and providing a variety of supports for cancer patients and their families. The family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and tremendous support from the community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in his name be sent to the Patrick Taylor Hope Lodge, St. Matthew’s Episcopal School or Vandebilt Catholic High School.
