Leona Luke Bourg, 83, a native of Terrebonne Parish, and resident of Dulac, died Sunday, April 21, 2013.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until funeral time Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Lawrence Bourg; children, Catherine Simon and husband, Huey Sr., Reggie Bourg, Ricky Bourg and wife, Linh, and Karen Ricaud and husband, Randy. She was a beloved grandmother and step-grandmother to Michael Price and wife, Kelly, Lori Price Williams, Kelly Boudwin and husband, Patric, Joey Bourg and wife, Pamela, Monica Bourg, Dori Bourg, Matthew Bourg and wife, Timi-Rae, Sarah Ricaud, Paul Ricaud, Huey Simon Jr., Joshua Simon and Rose S. Lottinger. She was a beloved great-grandmother and step-great-grandmother to Macy and Mallory Price, Dustin and Jenaé Boudwin, Lillian and Grant Bourg, Kyndal Rae Bourg, RaeLeigh Bourg, Brittany Parfait, Kristen Boudwin, Caleb Michael Wahl and Aleesia Danielle Simon. She had numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Lydie Carrere Luke; sisters, Winnie Thibodeaux, Wilda Thidodeaux and Wilma Matherne Blanchard; brothers, Whitney and Willie Luke and their spouses; and many nieces, nephews and other dear relatives.
She will be remembered by all for her belief in God, her devotion to the rosary, her kind and generous spirit, and her loving nature and selflessness. She opened her home to all and shared her cooking and her ability to "stuff" just about anything. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Auxiliary and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jules DuPont Jr., Dr. Ray Cinnater, Nancy Warren, Julie Rhodes, Myra and staff, the staff of Heritage Manor, nurses, aides and others who took care of Leona with special thanks to Bernadette, Betty and Janice whom she loved and considered her friends. Special thanks also goes to the staff and nurses of Hospice of South Louisiana for the care and compassion given to our mother and ourselves.
