George Allen Picou Jr.

George Allen Picou Jr., 64, a native of Pascagoula, Miss., and resident of Schriever, died at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Liturgy of the Word will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dubose Picou of Schriever; two daughters, Susan Brunet and husband, Andre Brunet, of Houma, and Elizabeth Butler and husband, Phillip Butler, of Sugarland, Texas; his mother, Jeanne Kieff Picou of Morgan City; one brother, David "Doc" Picou; three sisters, Catherine Bourdier, Nell LaMury and Diane Richardson; and six grandchildren, Jordan and Lauren Butler, Jeremy, Craig, Emmeline and Abigail Brunet. He was preceded in death by his father, George Allen Picou Sr. He was a retired pharmacist and owner of People’s Drug Store. He was an Eagle Scout, a past member of the Board of Directors of American Bank and a past member of the Rotary Club. He was a recipient of the Louisiana Businessman of the Year Award, received the Harvey Peltier Award for the most-distinguished nongraduate of Nicholls State University and received the Corporate Mark of Honor for People’s Drug Store for Corporate Leadership to the Region.
