Harold Matherne

Harold Matherne, 95, died Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 12:55 PM. He was a native of Dulac, LA and resident of Houma, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Burial: Terrebonne Memorial Park He is survived by his wife of seventy two years, Verna Marie Michel Matherne, sons, Glenn Matherne and wife Merril Gautreaux Matherne, Houma, LA, Eric Matherne and wife Jacque Dessino, Portsmouth, VA, daughter, Diane Matherne Barnhill and husband Wilfred, Houma, LA, grandchildren, Brian Barnhill, Kimberly Barnhill Robichaux, Daniel Matherne, Michelle Matherne Richaud, nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alzia and Eleanor Armond Matherne. Harold was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. He was an insurance salesman for twenty five years at Chauvin Funeral Home and served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was a 4th Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Special Thanks to his caregivers Dawn Barnhill and Yvonne LeBoeuf.
