Russell Joseph Chauvin, 80, a native of Paradis and a resident of Gray, died at 8:45 a.m. Friday, March 14, 2008.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. today at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bayou Black, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by five sons, Daniel J. Chauvin and wife, Linda, of Mandeville, David A. Chauvin and wife, Iris, of Orlando, Fla., Dean P. Chauvin and wife, Debi, Darryl T. Chauvin all of Houma, Don M. Chauvin and wife, Jennifer, of LaPlace; two brothers, Ronald Walker of Euless, Texas, and Douglas Chauvin of Port Sulphur; three sisters, Shirley Alesica, Enola Chauvin and Ella Mae Machella; 10 grandchildren, David Charles Chauvin, Sean Chauvin, Jade Chauvin Collins, William R. Chauvin, Dean Paul Chauvin Jr., M.D., Jenny Rebecca Chauvin, Benjamin Chauvin, Tiffany Lauren Chauvin, Don Michael Chauvin, Jenna Lynn Chauvin; five great-grandchildren, Emily Page Chauvin, Adelle René Chauvin, Alexa Collins, Aiden Collins and Noah Frances Chauvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Giroir Chauvin; his father, Leon Chauvin; his mother, Beulah Falgout Chauvin Walker; his stepfather, Lawrence Walker; and two brothers, Melvin Chauvin and Jerry Chauvin.
He was a retired building contractor and cabinet-maker and a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
