Helen Dorsey Landry, 77, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2008.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Bernadette Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Aubrey Landry; four daughters, Gail Landry Istre of Bakersfield, Calif., Susan Landry Ayo of Houma, Cindy Landry of Houma and Clarissa Landry Duplantis of Houma; three sons, Aubrey Landry Jr. of Dallas, Jason Landry of Casper, Wyo., and Eric Landry of Houma; one brother, Paul Dorsey; one sister, Roberta Dorsey McElroy; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Wanda Landry; her parents, Gayden Dorsey and Roberta Belanger Dorsey; one brother, Andrew Dorsey; and one sister, Mrs. Ambrose (Margaret) Theriot.
She was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church since it’s founding. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court, Our Lady of Perpetual Help (and a past regent). A past president of the Ladies Altar Society and a member of the Vigil Choir.
In 1984 she was awarded the then Bishop Warren Boudreaux’s Medal for her outstanding service and dedication to the Catholic Church. She was also a past Girl Scout and Troop Leader.
She was a very devoted wife, loving caring mother and grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Bernadette School, 309 Funderburk St., Houma, LA.
Pallbearers will be her seven children.
