E.M. "Red" McChargue, 85, a native of Norwich, Ga., and resident of Theriot, died Thursday, March 6, 2008.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time today at First United Methodist Church on Hwy. 311 in Houma. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at the church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Covington McChargue; two sons, Roger M. McChargue and wife, Margaret, and R. Mark McChargue and wife, Patricia; one daughter, Gail Denise McChargue; one daughter-in-law, Wanda McChargue; one brother, Bently McChargue; one sister, Ruth Crook; 13 grandchildren, Melanie Lanning, Margaret Guidry, Kelley McChargue, Coy Scott, Jennie Toups, Dene’ Fox, Summer Odom, Jeffery Billiot, Joshua Billiot, Emory Mark McChargue, Myriam McChargue, Marie McChargue and Roger E. McChargue; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jordan and Hailey Fox, Grant Odom, Emily Guidry, Jacob Daigle, Alexis, Azeria, Gage, Jeffery, Nikkia and Nehemiah Billiot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Joseph and Mattie Ruth Leach McChargue; one son, Steven McChargue; and his brothers and sister, David, James, Donald, Martha and Joe McChargue.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He was an avid fisherman, devoted to his family, spent his life as a construction superintendent and loved every minute of it.
