Sidney Caillouet, 79, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died Friday, March 7, 2008.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time today at First Baptist Church of Houma. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. today at the church, with burial at 3 p.m. today in Kentwood.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Strickland Caillouet; two daughters, Melanie Nelson and husband, Ron Nelson, of Houma, and Kaye Rabalais and husband, Greg Rabalais, of Oswego, N.Y.; two sons, David Caillouet of Little Rock, Ark., and Darryl Caillouet and wife, Linda, of Little Rock; six grandchildren, Gina Fitzgerald and husband, Jeremy Fitzgerald, of Houma, Martin and Olivia Caillouet of Little Rock, Mason, Morgan and Mitchell Rabalais of Oswego; two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Bradley Fitzgerald of Houma; one brother, Edward Caillouet of Kenner; and one sister, Dorothy Aranda of Mandeville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Caillouet Sr. and Pearl Bordelon Caillouet.
Sidney will be remembered fondly by students from Dularge Elementary, Grand Caillou and South Terrebonne, were he taught for many years. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Houma for 51 years, serving as a teacher, deacon, and choir member and music leader as well as in other leadership capacities.
