John Paul Vandercook, Sr., 88, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM.
He was a native of Little Rock, AR and resident of Houma, LA.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at Mulberry Baptist Church. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Mulberry Baptist Church.Graveside service will follow at Restlawn Park Cemetery in Avondale, LA at 2:30 PM.
He is survived by his
sons, John Vandercook, Jr. and wife Fran, Centerville, LA, Charles Vandercook and wife Pat, Covington, LA, Philip Vandercook and wife Sandy, Gretna, LA,
daughter, Cherry Vandercook Blackwell and husband Ben, Destrahan, LA,
sisters, Jane Thompson, Virginia Pool, Bertha McIntyre, Charlotte Love,
grandchildren, Michael Vandercook, David and Melody Blackwell, Anna and Amy Vandercook, John and Heather Vandercook,
five great grandchildren
and two special friends, Gail Bonvillain and Chelsie Windwehen.
He was preceded in death by his
wife, Catherine Gunn Vandercook,
parents, Venus Vandercook and Margarette LaGrave Vandercook,
brother, Russell Vandercook,
sister, Marie Townsend.
John was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church. He was the Director of Global Maritime Ministries and served in the Unites States Navy during World War II.
