Widgir "Pete" Duplantis Sr.

Wedgir "Pete" Duplantis Sr., 61, a native and resident of Dulac, died at 2:22 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 27, 2008. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Gertie Gregoire Duplantis of Dulac; three sons, Teddy Duplantis, Wedgir Duplantis Jr. and wife, Angel, and David Duplantis and wife, Sue Ellen Trosclair, of Dulac; two daughters, Maggie Duplantis and companion, Gabriel Celestin, and Sabrina Duplantis of Dulac; two brothers, William Duplantis and wife, Earlene, of Houma, and Jerry Duplantis and wife, Lena, of Dulac; three sisters, Laura Duplantis, Veronica Duplantis and Geraldine Duplantis of Houma; nine grandchildren, Natasha Duplantis, Wedgir Duplantis III, Ashley Duplantis, Brent Duplantis, Seth Bourg, Gabriel Celestin Jr., Chelsea Duplantis, Brent Foret and David Foret; three step-grandchildren, Skyler and Spencer Trosclair and Gabriella Celestin; two great-grandchildren, Ayuana Lovell and Leon Duplantis; and three grand-dogs, Clover, Lil Man and Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny Duplantis Sr. and Ida Chaisson Duplantis; one grandson, Justin Lovell; three brothers, Kenneth Duplantis, Bruce Duplantis and Johnny Duplantis Jr.; and two sisters, Rosella Duplantis and Mary Jane LeBlanc. He was a commercial fisherman and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
