Donald "Poppie" James Schexnayder, Sr., 65, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at 4:17 PM. He was a native of Lafayette, LA and resident of Theriot, LA. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. and Tuesday, February 5, 2013 from 9:00 AM until service time at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc.. Burial: St. Eloi Catholic Church Cemetery He is survived by his, loving wife of 45 years, Mavis Lovell Schexnayder, Theriot, LA, daughter, Rewa Schexnayder LaCoste and husband Dannon, sons, Donald "T-Don" Schexnayder, Jr. and Manny Schexnayder, mother, Delta Vincent Schexnayder, brother, Ronald "Pep" Schexnayder, grandchildren, Lindsey Schexnayder, Lexi LaCoste, Ciara LaCoste, Abbie LaCoste, Tanner Mathews, Dominick Schexnayder and Alexandria Bourque, great grandchild, Tinley Claire Savoie. He was preceded in death by his, father, Raymond Schexnayder, baby brother Schexnayder, father and mother in law, Vincent Edward Lovell and Nora DeHart Lovell. He served two years in the United States Army then retired from the oilfiled after 39 years. Every one knew him as "Poppie." He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed dirt racing with his son-in-law, watching football and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
