Carl F. Bienvenu, 76, a native of Houma and resident of Bourg, died at Terrebonne General Medical Center following a massive stroke, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. Religious service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 54 years, Martha Fortson Bienvenu; three daughters, Gail Morton and husband, Randy, of Memphis, Tenn., Janelle Thibodeaux and husband, Kim, of Eagle River, Alaska, and Carla Goubert of Houma; he also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Andrea Morton Hodges, Kimberly, Brian and Craig Thibodeaux, Nicholas and Ronny Goubert and Hayden Morton; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale Bienvenu of Houma; and one sister, Julie Chauvin of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis A. Bienvenu and Gertrude L. Bienvenu; and two grandchildren, Kurt Morton and Dustin Goubert.
He was a U.S. Korean War veteran and serving in the U.S. Air Force as a flight engineer. He was retired from Texaco where he was a pumper supervisor.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and 12-Mile Hunting Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking.
