Walter Joseph Hebert, 83, a native of Donner and a resident of Gibson, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with internment in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by one brother, Joseph W. Hebert of New Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. Hebert and Mamie G. Hebert; five brothers, Maurice P. Hebert, John L. Hebert, Gerald J. Hebert, Emanuel J. Hebert and Henry A. Hebert; and six sisters, Agnes H. Melinda, Gladys H. Adams, Edna H. Fanguy, Birty H. Savage, Ida M. Hebert and Margaret V. Hebert.
He was a retired police officer with the Houma City Police. He was an Assistant Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and a member of the National Rifle Association.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II.
His family wishes to offer a special thanks to his niece, Yvette Grabert McMillin and his sister-in-law, Delores H. Hebert, for their years of care giving.
