Fay Joseph McElroy Sr., 86, a native and resident of Houma, died at 2:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with internment in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.
He is survived by his wife, Roberta Dorsey McElroy of Houma; two sons, Fay McElroy Jr. and wife, Patricia, and Daniel McElroy of Houma; six daughters, Melanie Pellegrin and husband, Frank, Norma Theriot and husband, Bill, Mary Matherne and husband, Peter, Elizabeth LeBlanc, Julie Braud and husband, Donnie, of Houma and Annette Fournier and husband, George Jr., of Lafayette; one sister, Mel Sanders of Houma; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Donna McElroy, one son-in-law, Benny LeBlanc and his angel, Lauren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney James McElroy Sr. and Marie Clothilde Chauvin McElroy; his infant daughter, Alice McElroy; his three brothers, Sidney McElroy Jr., Charles McElroy and Hayes McElroy; one sister, Mildred Duplantis; and one infant sister, Norma McElroy.
He was a retired supervisor with Texaco. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1317.
He served in the Louisiana National Guard during World War II.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
