Mary Leona Voisin Rhodes

Mary Leona Voisin Rhodes, 84, a native and resident of Theriot, died at 4:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2008. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at St. Eloi Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mass will be at noon Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery. She is survived by two sons, Henry P. Rhodes and wife, Jeannette, of Houma and Bryan A. Rhodes and wife, Ella, of Theriot; one daughter, Lana Rhodes Hands and husband, Forrest "Buddy", of Spring, Texas; one daughter-in-law, Patricia Blanchard Rhodes Darcy and husband, Ray, of Houma; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Voisin of Theriot and Claire Rose Champagne of Theriot; and two brothers, Ernest Voisin and Charles Voisin, both of Houma. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrien Joseph Rhodes; one son, Adrian "Penny" Rhodes; one daughter-in-law, Diane Prosperie Rhodes; one grandchild, Sarah Jean Hand; her parents, Linest A. Voisin and Lorena Helen Champagne Voisin; and four brother, Linwood, Wiltz, James and William Voisin. She was a devoted wife and mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and Maw Maw, who cared for us all always. She taught us by example the value of faith and family. She was a lifelong member and volunteer of St. Eloi Catholic Parish. Also, she was a lifetime member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild. She enjoyed oil painting and most recently watercolors and sharing her joy of art with others. She made many close friends through art.
