Doris Mae Bonvillain Guidry, 86, a native and resident of Houma, died at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9:30 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jude "M.J." Guidry Avant and husband, John, of Houma; one grandchild, Joey Michael Guyan and wife, Tracy, of Houma; and one great-grandchild, Sara Elizabeth Guyan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmore Joseph Guidry; her parents, Wilfred Bonvillain Sr. and Alexina Rogers Bonvillain; one son, Elmore Joseph Guidry Jr.; three brothers, Emile Bonvillain Sr., Willie Bonvillain and Wilfred Bonvillain; and two sisters, Flossie B. Authement and Beulah B. Trahan.
She was a homemaker and a former waitress at Sea Breeze Restaurant.
During World War II she worked in the munitions factory at Gorham Sterling in Rhode Island while her husband was serving in the Seabees. She was an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary, and a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters of America.
She was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
