Lloyd Jean Gaudet, 84, a native of Lafourche Crossing and resident of Houma, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to funeral time Friday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Mass will be at noon Friday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Genevieve Rhodes Gaudet; two sons, Daniel Gaudet and wife, Judy, and Rodney Gaudet and wife, Cindy, of Houma; one daughter, Cheryl Fugate and husband, Joseph, of Trinity, Fla.; two sisters, Marguerite Gaudet and Corrine Gaudet of Gretna; seven grandchildren, David Gaudet and wife, Wanda, Christie Herradon, Katie Indovina and husband, Sammy, of Houma, Sara Dailey and husband, Scott, of Destrehan, Joanna Gele’ and husband, Brian, of Tampa, Fla., Jeffrey Gaudet and wife, Cherise, and Ryan Gaudet and wife, Andie, of Houma; and 16 great-grandchildren, Megan Gaudet, Hannah Gaudet, Amanda Herradon, Karley Herradon, Rebecca Herradon, Samantha Indovina, Katelyn Indovina of Houma, Lauren Dailey, Patrick Dailey of Destrehan, Brandon Gele’, Matthew Gele’ of Tampa, Brennen Gaudet, Jace Gaudet, Bailey Jackson, Dylan Gaudet and Owen Gaudet of Houma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Gaudet and Zoe Bergeron Gaudet; four brothers, Guy, Garland, Lynn and Russell Gaudet; and four sisters, Elaine Barrileaux, Noella Gaudet, Mary Ann Rosine and Beatrice Gaudet.
He worked for Louisiana Land Exploration as a cook for 32 years.
He served in World War II in the U.S. Army under General Patton. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Unit Citation G067 79th Infantry Division 45, and Eameto Medal and served in Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland Central Europe.
He was an avid cook and enjoyed working in his yard. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved being with his family and friends.
He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
