Harry Lee Duplantis, 76, a native of Bayou Cane and resident of Houma, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at St. Gregory Catholic Church. Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. He was the loving husband of 56 years to Vella Olivier Duplantis of Houma; he is also survived by two sons, Terry L. Duplantis and wife, Gayle, and Dwayne Duplantis and wife, Susan, of Houma; five daughters, Helen Siegrist and husband, Ray, of Marlow, Okla., Lee Ann Breaux and husband, Murphy, of West Monroe, Gerri Duplantis and companion, Tim, Donna Bienvenu and husband, Craig, and Laura Melancon and husband, Danny, of Houma; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Duplantis and Helen Brunet Duplantis; one grandson, Quinn Crochet; two sons-in-law, Mark Kelly and Michael Crochet; and one sister, Betty Duplantis. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was founder of Harry’s Upholstery and Glass. He was an avid hunter, a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
