Joseph "Bolo" Ivy Dean Sr., 79, a native and resident of Dulac, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, 2007.
Visitation will be from 2 to 10 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by five sons, Joseph LeRoy Dean and wife, Emelda, of Dulac, Joseph Ivy Dean Jr. and wife, Martha, of Houma, Paul Jessie Dion and wife, Lena, of Dulac, Joseph Roy Dean and Sara, of Houma and Paul Jerry Dion and wife, Rosetta, of Mississippi; one daughter, Mary Verret and husband, Cyrus Dean, of Dulac; one brother, John Norris Dean of Dulac; two stepbrothers, Joe Dean of Grand Caillou and Ross Dean of Dulac; two sisters, Wilda Verdin of Grand Caillou and Anna Mae Gregoire of Houma; one stepsister, Rose Pierre of Grand Caillou; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary "Geges" Verdin Dean; his parents, Clarence Dean and Eva Mae Fazzio Dean; one daughter, Ouida Dean; and one brother, Wilbert Dean.
He was a retired fisherman and a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church.
