Allen Joseph "Pop" Pellegrin, 76, a native and resident of Houma, died at 7:10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ethel Domangue Pellegrin; four sons, Daniel "Dano" Pellegrin, Johnny "J.P." Pellegrin and wife, Janet, Barry Pellegrin Sr. and wife, Joanne, and Ronnie "Joe" Pellegrin of Houma; three daughters, Carol "Snook" P. Black and husband, James, of Rome, Ga., Kathy P. McMurray and Connie "Putsy" Watson and husband, Dennis, of Houma; one brother, Gerald "Tut" Pellegrin of Houma; two sisters, Jeanette Platt of Houston and Brenda Braud of Houma; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivy Joseph Pellegrin and Onieta Theriot Pellegrin; one son-in-law, Ron McMurry; and one daughter-in-law, Tammy Pellegrin.
He was a retired mechanic with Beacon Rental and owner of Marine Motor Service. He was an Air Force veteran in the Korean War and belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He was a volunteer firefighter and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church.
