Alcee “A.J.” Joseph Detiveaux, 84, a native of Bourg and resident of Houma, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2007.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Chauvin Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by two sons, Daniel J. Detiveaux and wife, Dona, of Houma, and Kenneth J. Detiveaux and wife, Jennifer, of Metairie; one daughter, Jean D. Antill of Houma; five brothers, Alton Detiveaux of Houma, Reynold Detiveaux of Bayou Blue, Donald Detiveaux of Knoxville, Tenn., Allen Detiveaux of Houma and Dale Hughes of Shreveport; seven grandchildren, John R. Blanchard, Beau M. Blanchard, Jaime J. Detiveaux, Jennifer D. LeBoeuf, James S. Antill III, Tyler P. Detiveaux and Jessica L. Antill; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Blanchard, Alex Blanchard and Emma LeBoeuf.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Robichaux Detiveaux; his parents, George Detiveaux and Violet Chauvin Detiveaux; one daughter, Judith D. Blanchard; four brothers, Irvin, Rufus, Leslie and Charles Detiveaux; and one sister, Georgia Martin.
He was a retired upholsterer with Landry’s Seat Cover and Glass and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Holy Name Society and Vivitan.
