Horace Joseph Scott, 60, a native and resident of Houma, died at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2007.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Josephine Verdin Scott of Houma; two sons, Horace Joseph Scott Jr. and wife, Leslie Billiot Scott, of Theriot, and Heath Lee Scott and wife, Kimberly Brouillette Scott, of Houma; two daughters, Jeanice Scott Sarkkinen and husband, Timo Sarkkinen, of Houma and Jennifer Scott Way of Prairieville; one brother, Nelson John Scott and wife, Rosemary Verret Scott, of Grand Caillou; one sister, Rita Scott Gregorie and husband, Wiggin Gregoire, of Grand Caillou; 14 grandchildren, Jonathan Sarkkinen, Katie Sarkkinen; Jacob Way, Hannah Way, Abigail Way, Sarah Way, Rachel Way, Rebekah Way, Ariel Scott, Brett Scott, Grant Scott, Heather Scott, Hunter Scott and Gage Scott; and two step-grandchildren, Corey Robichaux Jr. and Emilee Robichaux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Scott Jr. and Azelia Verret Scott; one son-in-law, the Rev. Donald Way; one granddaughter, Tabitha Way; two brothers, Norris Anthony Scott and Morris Scott; and two sisters, Adeline Scott Brunet and Earline Scott.
He was self-employed welder.
