George Bernard Lind, 81, a native of New Orleans and resident of Houma, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Chauvin Funeral Home, and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Tuesday at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife, Ivy Rose LeBlanc Lind of Houma; one son, George Bernard Lind Jr. and wife, Sarah Stockton Lind, of Tucson, Ariz.; three daughters, Gayle Lind Koren and husband, William F. Koren III, of Baton Rouge, Sherill Lind Dupree and husband, Peter J. Dupree, DDS, of Houma, and Jennifer Lind Herman and husband, Scott Herman of Sugarland, Texas; one brother, Robert A. Lind and wife, Bette Lind, of Lilburn, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Audrey Lind of New Orleans; and 10 grandchildren, George B. Lind III, Richard Lind, Andrea Dupree Cenac, James Dupree, Aimee Dupree, William F. Koren IV, Loren Koren, Elyse Herman, Brett Herman and Jacob Herman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Lind and Philomine Meynier Lind; one brother, Herman Lind Jr., his sisters and brothers-in-law, Heloise King and husband, Leo King, and Frances Gardner and husband, Thomas Gardner.
He was a retired controller with Saia Freight Lines with 47 years of service.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1317, and a dedicated father and husband. He attended Jesuit High School and Tulane University.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
He was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral.
