Genevieve Hepler Neal, 98, a native and resident of Lafayette, died at 2:22 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2007.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
She is survived by her special great-nephews, the Rev. Fred M. Fraser and wife, Teresa, of Lafayette, Dr. Warren M. Fraser of Baton Rouge and numerous other great-nephews and nieces; cousin, Elise McGuyre of Houma, and special friends, Belle and Tony Funguy of Houma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Neal; and her parents, Walter and Mable Baget Hepler.
She was raised and graduated from high school in Morgan City. She then moved to Houma where she lived the remainder of her life until May 2007 when she returned to Lafayette to be near family. She was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral all of her adult life.
