Luby Joseph Bergeron Jr., 69, a native of Bayou Black and resident of Schriever, died at 6:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007. Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chauvin Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. He is survived by his second wife, Sharon Trahan Bergeron; two daughters, Jennifer B. Prestenbach and husband, Jed, and Madeline B. Mayo and husband, Donnie; three stepsons, Arthur Jude Breaux, Jerry Gaudet Jr. and wife, Cassandra, and Raymond Ledet Jr. and wife, Vanessa; six stepdaughters, Susan B. David and husband, William, Deborah Ann Vinson and husband, Wayne, Marilyn B. Prestenbach and husband, Earl Jr., Elizabeth Deroche and husband, Samuel, Eva B. Filer and husband, Harold, and Sabrina Kraemer and husband, Marvin; three brothers, Donald, Raymond and Cecil Bergeron; two sisters, Joyce Baio and Daisy Gautreaux; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jennie Pitre Bergeron; his parents, Luby Joseph Bergeron Sr. and Rita Hebert Bergeron; and one brother, Russell Bergeron. He was a retired gun loader with Dresser Industries and was a U.S. Navy veteran during peacetime. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
