Effie Guidry Fields

Effie Guidry Fields, 82, a native and resident of Houma, died at 8:17 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2007. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to funeral time Wednesday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Liturgy of the Word will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Bridget Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Alton P. Fields; two sons, Larry Fields and Lynn Fields; three sisters, Gladys Dover, Edna Duplantis and Ruby Hotard; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Armand J. Guidry and Nettie Bourgeois Guidry; two brothers, James Guidry and Calvin Guidry; four sisters, Edith Naquin, Pearl Benoit, Verna Legendre and Nettie Guidry. She was a homemaker and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
