Joseph "Joe" William Charpentier Sr., 84, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Chauvin, died at 8:23 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. Visitation will be from 5 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Marie Blanchard Charpentier of Chauvin; one son, Joseph W. Charpentier Jr. of Gonzales; two daughters, Lisa Boquet and fiancé, Michael Manuel Jr., and Kathleen LeBouef and husband, LeRoy P. LeBouef Sr. of Chauvin; two sisters, Josephine Johnson and husband, Arnold Johnson, of Tennessee and Dorothy Davis of Houma; seven grandchildren, LeRoy LeBouef Jr. and fiancée, Angel Solet, of Chauvin, Sharon Russell and husband, Laurine Russell, of Gonzales, Troy James LeBouef of Montegut, Trina Browning and husband, Randy Browning, of Chauvin, Vera Duplessis and husband, Danny Duplessis, of Gonzales, Jeremy Boquet of Thibodaux and Eric Charpentier of Gonzales; and five great-grandchildren, Alyson Louise LeBouef, Brandy Browning, Sidney Duplessis, Stevie Duplessis and David Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Charpentier and Cornelia Boudreaux Charpentier; four brothers, Leo Paul Charpentier, Russell Charpentier, Lloyd Charpentier and LeRoy Charpentier; and two sisters, Barbara Charpentier and Peggy Roth. He was a retired bridge tender with the state Department of Transportation, a former trawler, trapper, gardener and oyster shucker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
