Lionel "Snow" Chauvin, 82, a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Houma, died at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2007.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Monday at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Verna Stagni Chauvin of Houma; two sons, Lionel "Boo" Chauvin and wife, Pansy, and Paul Chauvin and wife, Jackie, of Houma; four daughters, Stella Chauvin Brown of Houma, Theresa Portier and husband, Chuck, of Lafayette, Anna Beth Trahan and husband, Eveste "Junior," and Sharon Chauvin of Houma; one sister, Rita Boydens of Houma; and 10 grandchildren, Francesca Clement, Trisha Portier, Ryan Chauvin, Christopher Chauvin, Anna MacMorran, Erin Newman, Charles Portier III, Courtney Chauvin, Seth Lionel Bilbo and Candace Chauvin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olum Chauvin and Ida Franks Chauvin; one brother, Louis Chauvin; and one sister, Marion Butler.
He was a retired production foreman with Texaco for 37 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, hunting and golf.
He was a parishioner of St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church.
