Abel "Pop" Romain Gagneaux, 86, a native of Donner and resident of Houma, died at 6:42 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
Visitation will be from 6 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at Chauvin Funeral Home. Religious service will be at noon Friday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his companion, Una Crochet of Houma; one son, Tom Romain Gagneaux and wife, Barbara, of Zachary; one daughter, Melanie G. Burton and husband, Roland, of Houma; three brothers, Kirvey Gagneaux of Schriever, Alvin "Poudoot" Gagneaux of Thibodaux and James Gagneaux of Cortez, Colo.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Florence Duff Gagneaux; his parents, Romain Gagneaux and Sarah Boudreaux Gagneaux; three brothers, Howard, Douglas and Harry Gagneaux; and two sisters, Marion G. Toups and Delores G. Bennett.
He was a retired mud engineer with Rowan Drilling Co. and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
