Roland John Blanchard, 71, a native of Theriot and resident of Houma, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 15, 2007.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to funeral time Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at noon Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one son, Lester Blanchard and wife, Jamie, of Chauvin; four daughters, Medina Miller and husband, Joey, of Thibodaux, Lucille Peeples and husband, Robert, of Gray, Celesida Blanchard of Houma and Nicole Farkas and husband, Chucky, of Chauvin; two brothers, Ivy Blanchard Sr. of Chalmette and Donald Blanchard Sr. of Natchez, Miss.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam Domangue Blanchard; his parents, Essie Blanchard Sr. and Celesida Thibodeaux Blanchard; six brothers, Essie Jr., Virgis, Wilson, Andy, Ira and Emile Blanchard; and one sister, Doris Mae Blanchard.
He was a retired welder with McDermott with more than 30 years and a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
